![]() So, welcome to my web page. It was originally started to keep of record of my times as I rode the route of the Tour de France in 2009. That was a magnificent experience, and although there were times when I felt terrible and was suffering so much I contemplated giving up, I now look back on it as one of my best adventures.
Over four weeks I got to ride my bike through 7 countries, climb some of the most famous climbs in bike racing, camp in some breathtakingly beautiful spots (as well as at least one patch of gravel about 3 meters off the side of a major highway... I was tired), meet some fantastic people who I still keep in touch with today and of course live the Tour de France, my way. The worst things about it though was being away from my friends and family for far too long. One thing that helped was keeping this blog, and since then I just kind of like the idea, so it is still here. The focus is mainly on bikes and bike riding, and the sport I do, but every know and then there are random other things thrown in. Most of the new developments happen on the General News section, so feel free to give it a read, and send me an email if you like it (or hate it)! You can see the reports from that first TdF by following the link to the right, and there is also a link for the Tour de Timor, which is a great race. The Giro link is a bit sad, that one just never hapened, but life can be like that sometimes. 2011 was a pretty rough year for me, and at a time when I was feeling like I had lost all of the important things in my life it was great to be able to head down to France and ride some hills again, this time with a great mate, Dave. The link on the right shows those Tour posts, and once again it was a great experience.
I've done a couple of fun triathlons lately, and reports of varying lengths are in the General News section, or under New Stuff. I am working on a couple of new ideas now. The next is probably going to be a quick Ironman. There are a few questions about my work future just at the moment, and things may change around because of that, but I also have a medium adventure planned - will have to see how that goes. There is also a much bigger plan in the works - a real adventure of a lifetime type idea that I had initially thought about doing with a wonderful, wonderful friend. Unfortunately now I might have to do it on my own, but there is still lots of promise for 2013... |
