Recently, TouchNature had a wonderful staff picnic. It had been 3
years since we've had a team outing, and everyone had a good time. Despite it being monsoon season in Nepal (just two days before, it had been raining cats
and dogs!), we had lovely weather on that day. It was a great time of bonding.
Alisha

Meet Alisha, the adorable 4-year-old
daughter of one of the women employed by Touch Nature.
Alisha lives with her mother,
Maili, and two older siblings. Her father left the family when Maili suffered
with meningitis and jaundice while pregnant with Alisha. Those two illnesses
were to have another very serious consequence – Alisha was born with profound
hearing loss.
Recently, Jo
was able to find a doctor in Singapore who is willing to conduct a cochlear
implant, which should significantly enhance Alisha’s hearing. Maili and Alisha obtained passports and were flown to
Singapore.
The operation took place on Thursday, November 5th, and she is doing well so far, though a full recovery largely
depends on speech therapy and tuning of the implant. The therapy will take two weeks and it will start at the end of November.
