Family News

Family Day

 

The 7th of April this year we had a family day at the factory. Two of our volunteers had planned the day which consisted of games, creative activities and good food followed by a piece of cake. It was a day filled with laughter and we enjoyed each other’s company. It was nice to have a day where our workers and their children could do something funny and creative together and to see how everyone took part in the activities with much joy.

 
 
  
 
 
 
Kaka
 
Kaka comes from the village where he lived with his wife and son. The son died at the age of 13 after having played with fire with the other children in the village. After 8 years his wife was pregnant again but the baby died in the womb. Kaka was possessed by some evil spirits and was depressed after having lost both of their children. His brother took him to Kathmandu where he got the chance to come to church and he came to know Jesus Christ and all the evil spirits left him. His brother took him to TouchNature where both Kaka and his wife got work. He used to think he had no hope for his life and wasn’t good at anything but now he feels precious in the Lord and very thankful that he can work at TouchNature. Recently he found out that he had some heart problems. He was taking a lot of medicine for his high blood pressure but it didn’t work. He came to hospital where they discovered the heart problems. They aren’t exactly sure what is wrong but he has some respiration problems and does not get enough oxygen. He therefore has to get extra oxygen twice a day, which is very expensive. His condition is now better but still not well.
 
 
Alisha 
Alisha lives with her two older siblings and her mother Maili, who is one of the women employed by Touch Nature. Her father left the family when Maili suffered with meningitis and jaundice while pregnant with Alisha. Those two illnesses were to have another very serious consequence – Alisha was born with profound hearing loss.
Jo was able to find a doctor in Singapore who is willing to conduct a cochlear implant, which should significantly enhance Alisha’s hearing. Maili and Alisha obtained passports and were flown to Singapore.
Since her cochlear implant at the age of 4, Alisha has continued to progress well, using words and understanding many more.
