Kate Pollard

This site is the result of historical research undertaken by Kate Pollard, assisted by Nick Barnes. Begun as a book project,  the amount  of material quickly overtook the original plan and Kate published her researches into 20th century Totterdown separately in 2006, under the title Totterdown Rising[1]

With Totterdown Rising completed it was decided that the next stage of publishing would concentrate on the history of  ‘Lower Totterdown’.  Sadly, and before a final draft of the “Pylle Hill story” was completed for publication, Kate lost her long battle with cancer. [2]  This website has been constructed by Nick Barnes, using text previously co-written with Kate.
