Toronto Sunrise Past-President  Appointed New Director of RAGM

Congratulations to Jim Louttit, Past-President of the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise, who has been appointed Director of the Rotarian Action Group for Microcredit (RAGM) as of February 2011.
 
Continuing his service with RAGM, Jim was appointed Secretary for a two-year term at the Annual General Meeting held at the RI Convention in New Orleans, Louisana, effective July 1, 2011.
 
ShelterBox Mobilizes Quickly in Japan

ShelterBox mobilized within minutes of the tsunami and had a response team on the ground in northern Japan within 24 hours. An initial 600 ShelterBoxes are en route for those hardest hit. Read more.

Rotary Foundation Creates Fund to Help Japan Tsunami Victims

In response to the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March, The Rotary Foundation established the Rotary Japan and Pacific Islands Disaster Recovery Fund, which will support recovery projects in the affected areas. Read more.

We are returned to the Royal Ontario Golf Club for our annual golf fundraiser with the Rotary Clubs of Toronto Eglinton and Parkdale-High Park.  The day was in support of PACT, Polio PlusThe Hearing Foundation of Canada and other community projects.  Thank you to all those that participated and volunteered!

Night of One Thousand Dinners

It was standing room only at the most recent iteration of our ever popular dinner in support of the Canadian Landmine Foundation!  Sandie, Chef Bob and Sous-Chef Allan hosted a fantastic evening featuring cevapcici (Balkan sausages), Afghan chicken, and other foods from regions still struggling with landmine eradiation.  A great night in support of a great cause!
 

Nepalese Night

Toronto Sunrisers gathered in the casual atmosphere of  the Tranzac club for a fabulous evening of Nepalese culture, conversation, and a three-course traditional Nepalese meal prepared by Mt. Everest Restaurant.  A beautiful video presentation was provided by members of Nepalese Canadian Community Services. Proceeds raised in support of the Children's Reading Circle and other Toronto Sunrise charities. Thank you to all who made it out!

Fourth Annual Scotch Tasting a Success

Toronto Sunrisers and friends gathered at The Badminton & Racquet Club on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 for an evening of dinner and fine scotches in support of Ability Online, PACT and other charities. Attendees enjoyed a rousing traditional Scottish haggis ceremony and a guided tasting of rare premium scotches, led by Garth MacGirr and colleauges. Thanks to all involved.

Toronto Sunrise Scores a Hole-in-One

Over 100 hundred golf enthusiasts and friends tested their skills at the Royal Ontario Golf Club on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 in support of Polio Plus, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, PACT and other charities.  A joint effort of the Rotary Clubs of Toronto Sunrise, Parkdale-High Park and Toronto Eglinton, the Sixth Annual Golf Classic was a huge success. Many thanks to event sponsor Dynamic Printing and Graphics.

 
 

Toronto Sunrisers Quench Their Summer Thirst

On a warm sunny evening this June, Toronto Sunrise celebrated in style with Quench: A Wine Tasting. The event was a winner. People came out in droves to the University of Toronto Faculty Club, and the smiles and good cheer were endless. Six wonderful wines were selected by wine expert Adam Bekhor and supplied by Hobbs & Co. wine merchants. There were great prizes, wonderful hor d'oeuvres and even group of seven masterpieces to admire. Clearly, everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Thanks for joining us!
