TORCS is a free, open source racing sim for Windows and Linux available from http://torcs.sourceforge.net. Its by no means the best sim out there, but its very good and gradually improving over time. And hey, you can't argue with the price tag! Creating content for TORCS has become quite a serious hobby for me over the last few years. At last count I've made 8 tracks and numerous cars, plus developing a robot driver to compete in the TORCS Endurance Championships. I didn't intend to get so involved in the game - it just snuck up on me when I wasn't looking :) Prior to TORCS I was involved in developing updates and 3rd-party mods for the old (but excellent) Bungie game, Myth.
