Legacy Trail

Commemorating the Torch route

and initiating another regional trail link in Lighthouse Country.

Since 1996, the Regional District of Nanaimo has been working on securing and developing regional trail corridor to link all of its communities.  Planning corridor between the Wildwood Community Park trail head to the Lighthouse Country Regional Trail and the Crosley Rd - Hwy 19A junction has now advanced sufficiently to begin trail blazing through the heart of Bowser.  This route parallels that of the November 2009 Olympic Torch Run in Bowser, and will be called the Olympic Legacy Trail with signage noting Bowser’s involvement in the 2010 Torch Relay.

part of the trail corridor will run along the
treeline behind Magnolia Court

The Legacy Trail will make a permanent contribution to the health and welfare of the Regional District and its northern communities, and takes us all one step closer to a Vancouver Island navigable by a system of inter-connected regional and national trails.
