Why did I start this site?
I remember turning on the TV and seeing a video clip of The Savannah Band performing Cherchez La Femme.
There was this bass player with a Rickenbacker 4005 bass
interacting with the fantastic female vocalist.
They seemed to be having
a ball. The whole band was wearing 40's clothes and the sound was totally unique.
A friend (Russell) just returned from LA and said he was in the
audience when they performed on the Dinah Shore Show.
He had their
album and played it for me. If I play it today I still get a buzz.
Great music, lyrics, arrangements and playing - a special record! I naturally bought the other Savannah Band material. The LP album cover artwork was amazing - well worth seeking out.
Later on, I was listening to the radio and 'Dear Addy' was playing. The music was so good that I had to know more about the band. I was delighted when I discovered that it included two members of the Savannah Band.

I then started searching record stores for Kid Creole LPs and Singles. I actually found an un-played copy of the original 'Off The Coast Of Me' LP in a secondhand record store.
I started this site (on Yahoo! Geocities) way back in 1998. In those days, the only sites
that mentioned Kid Creole or the Savannah Band were CD store sites.
As the Browder brothers - August Darnell and Stony Browder Jr. - and their friends wrote, performed and recorded
a lot of my favorite songs, I thought they deserved a web site of their
own.
Thankfully, Kid Creole now has his own 'official' web site and there are
various Facebook, MySpace and other sites featuring current and past
band members.
I must say a big THANK YOU to all the hundreds of fans (creolians) and ex-band members who have
contributed information and photos or supported this site over the
years!
