In Dr. Sun Jie Guang’s collaborative research with Paediatric Professor Virginia Wong of the University of Hong Kong, children with excessive drooling problems due to neurological disorders showed clinical improvement in saliva control. Autistic children also displayed improvements in intellectual function, tantrum, eye contact, concentration, social communication, and language control after receiving tongue acupuncture treatments. Patients with cerebral palsy exhibited diverse grades of improvement in clinical motor function, as well as self-care ability.
Is tongue acupuncture painful?
Most patients find tongue acupuncture treatment perfectly acceptable. Some patients may occasionally experience minor pain, slight bleeding, or localized swelling and bruising, from which they soon recover.
