- Elected to the Executive Council of the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights (UICHR)—2003
- State Elections Administrator Training certification—first for Iowa—2004
- Appointed by the Iowa Secretary of State to the IVOTERS Standards Board for the implementation of statewide voter registration and elections software—2005
- Supported passage of Johnson County's Human Rights Ordinance; Johnson County was the first in the state to adopt such an ordinance.
- Completed 9 of 12 courses required to receive national Certified Elections and Registration Administrator certification—2007
- Implemented new ADA-compliant accessible ballot marking devices in all voting precincts—June 2008
- Announced the most extensive satellite voting schedule in Iowa—October 2008
