Having started his education in physics at Birmingham University, Tom decided that a career as a physicist was not what he wanted to do and left university without graduating. After working a variety of jobs, Tom eventually returned to university and completed an honours degree in psychology at Newman University College, also in Birmingham.
Tom is now continuing his studies at Newman, pursuing a PhD in neuropsychology. He is working with people with acquired brain injuries and trying to understand how they and their relatives are affected by this experience. He eventually hopes to become a clinical neuropsychologist and help people who are suffering from brain injury or depression.
