BAND SUPPLIES

All students should bring the following supplies to class, every day, for the entire school year unless notified otherwise by a band director.

1. Each student will have their instrument and the accessories as outlined below:

WOODWINDS (reeds) – a case of reeds (10 – 25 reeds), 7th graders should purchase #2 or #2 ½ strength reeds. 8th and 9th graders should purchase #2 ½ to #3 strength reeds. Students should also purchase a Yamaha care kit for their specific instrument.

BRASS – Students should purchase a Yamaha Care Kit for their specific instrument.

PERCUSSIONISTS – Practice Pad with stand, stick bag, 2 pairs of 5A or 5B drumsticks and a pair of double-sided bell mallets. Place your name on all of the equipment you purchase because percussion equipment is easily misplaced.

2. All students are asked to bring in seven pencils in September to be used throughout the school year.

3. Students need to have their band textbook with them for each band class.

  • 7th graders need to have the book “Essential Elements 2000 Book 1”. Most students have the book from elementary school. Students who do not should get one immediately. Students will need to have a book in order to be considered as prepared for class. Students will be asked to purchase "Essential Elements 2000 Book 2" by the end of the first marking period. It may be wise to order it now to make sure you get it before the rush : )
  • 8th graders should have the book “Essential Elements 2000 Book 2” if not, books can be purchased online atwww.jwpepper.com or through Russo’s Music or at Music & Arts Center in Doylestown.

  • 9th graders use the book “Essential Elements 2000 Book 2”, most students already have the book from last year. Parents of current ninth graders need to check to be certain that your child still has their “Essential Elements 2000 Book 2” from last year. If they don’t, please order a new one ASAP. Student will need a book to be marked as prepared for class.

Parents are, of course, f ree to purchase supplies with any music supply vendor, however, the school has developed a good relationship with Russo’s Music. They visit us once each week. You can order supplies from them by phone, and they will deliver them directly to Tohickon. This can save you valuable time and money. Russo’s Music also handles our repairs and instrument rentals.

Music and Arts Center has also opened a store in Doylestown. They are also an excellent resource to help you fulfill your child's music supply needs.
