Memorial Day Parade ~ Get Ready To March!!!

 

Dear Band Parent,

 

On Monday, May 28, 2012, the Tohickon "Marching Band" will be participating in the

Doylestown Memorial Day Parade. It is one of the nation’s finest community parades. This is a wonderful

opportunity for your child to participate in this tradition of honoring those who have paid the ultimate

sacrifice for our country.

 

 

Rehearsals:

Tuesday, May 22, 2:30 – 4:00

Wednesday, May 23, 2:30 – 4:00

(Students should wear sneakers for rehearsals – No sandals or flip-flops)

 

Parade Route: Begin at CB West -end at Doylestown Cemetery via Court Street.

 

Memorial Day Schedule:

8:30 a.m. - Report to Tohickon

9:30 a.m. - Leave via school buses for West

10:00: a.m. - Arrive and unload

10:00 a.m. - Parade Begins

10:20 a.m. - Line-up

11:40 a.m. - Load the buses

12:15 p.m. - Arrive at Tohickon

 

Uniform: Burgundy "Tohickon Band" polo shirt ($14.00) Tan khaki pants Comfortable sneakers

*Form and shirt money is due to Mr. LaMar by Thursday, May 10, 2012

Please make checks payable to "Tohickon Middle School".

 

Additional Information

Each student should bring a bottle of water to drink on the bus after the parade has been

completed.

Because of limited equipment, participation for seventh grade percussionists is not required. seventh grade percussionists are welcome to march with the band as "Flag-wavers". Interested students should

purchase a shirt and a small to medium US flag from "Walmart", "K-mart" etc.

After the parade, the buses will return to Tohickon. All students will be returning to Tohickon. There

will be no pickups at the Doylestown Cemetery at the end of the parade.

 

Parade participation is a part of your child’s fourth marking period grade. However, We

understand that some families will be out of town during Memorial Day weekend. If this is the case for

your child, please note it on the Memorial Day form. As always, thank you so much for your support

and cooperation. We are hoping to see you along the parade route. I will need the help of a few

parents on the buses and during the parade. If you are available, please let me know. If you have
