You are learning about true cost, the idea that price and formal economic ways to measure costs are not always telling the whole story. For each website you look at, there is a prompt. Generally, the prompts ask you to relate each site to the concept of true cost. Most discuss hidden costs--those which we don't consider when we buy something. Remember that true cost equals hidden plus price. So if you are asked what is the true cost of something, remember that it's the price plus whatever environmental, health, or opportunity costs that you are not paying for at the time of purchase. Other sites may look at footprints, or ecological impacts. These represent the true cost of our lifestyle, above and beyond specific goods or services.
