G.I.Joe is the Code Name for America's highly trained special mission force, it's purpose to defend human freedom against COBRA: A ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.
In 1982 Fathers and sons everywhere were greeted once again to the Classic Hasbro property but this time each figure had a code name and fought against The Enemy: Cobra.
Hasbro together with Sunbow Animation teamed together to promote the comic series written by Larry Hama ( the original comic series from marvel comics ran for 155 issues).

Then in 1983 Joe blasted into homes everywhere with a 5 part adventure entitled The M.A.S.S. Device!

The toys sold themselves well through the 90's untill for whatever reason Hasbro changed it's format, ( first to SGT. SAVAGE, then to EXTREME).
Years pased and like a true soldier Joe marched forward, we saw limited releases for Toys R Us, then a wider release with a revamp entitled Joe vs. Cobra. There were several themed sets, such as Spy Troops, and Valor Vs. Venom.

Joe took some time off store shelves and became the DTC line and when he returned became Sigma Six ( a modern kin to Super Joe standing at 8 inches tall).
Then in 2007 joe fans were given the ultimate treat Hasbro gave joe a complete facelift to kick off the ARAH 25th Birthday and new versions of classic favorites hit the store shelves in classic 80's styled packs.

Now G.I.Joe is back with Hasbro bringing it's followers a Live Action Feature Film in Aug. of 2009, plus Hasbro has announced a brand new Animated series titled G.I.Joe: RESOLUTE and is produced by Sam Register, Written by Warren Ellis, Directed by Joaqui, Dos Santos and lead animation is by David Johnson. Duke is pretty much in charge of the team and Flint will be the second in command. There is not going to be much focus on behind the desk leaders in this series. What you knew of Duke in the past may not be the same as what this Duke will be. Warren Ellis tried to improve characters where he thought it was needed. **
