TJENDOL SUNRISE are:
Marc Tjendol: vocals, guitars
Patrick Kerger: vocals, lead guitar
Willy Pieters: vocals, double bass
Jean-Paul Goossens: drums
Tjendol Sunrise seamlessly fuse Rockabilly, Rock&Roll and Indorock into their own exciting brand of asskickin' music, as everyone who has seen them live can attest.
The band was formed in 2004 because the individual members thought there was a need for a group that could play early Rock & Roll (in which they all had musical roots) with the same attidude that made it so exciting in the 50's, after having attended a lot of performances by modern-day R&R groups who routinely played through their unexciting sets.
Tjendol Sunrise's first live performances were a great succes, and their reputation as an exciting live band kept on growing steadily through the years.
At the release of their very well received 2007 album "The Way That You Smile" which was dedicated to their heroes The Tielman Brothers, they presented the first copy to Andy Tielman. Andy then spontaneously decided to play a few songs with Tjendol Sunrise before an ecstatic audience. They did some more great concerts together after that by public demand. Very impressed with Tjendol Sunrise as a R&R live band, Andy started discussing the possibility of recording an album together.
NEWS UPDATE:

After the legendary performances together with their hero Andy Tielman in 2007, it seemed only natural that they'd join forces with him on the album "21st Century Rock" from 2008, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the release of the official first dutch popmusic single "Rock Little Baby Of Mine", recorded by Andy with the legendary TIELMAN BROTHERS in 1958. The album includes an exciting new and updated version by Andy Tielman and Tjendol Sunrise of this landmark recording, and on may 21, Andy and Tjendol Sunrise performed "Rock Little Baby Of Mine" for the dutch queen Beatrix, who enjoyed their performance very much.
Musically, the album is a very exciting fusion of the musical styles of Tjendol Sunrise and Andy Tielman. Even Andy's diehard fans will be wondering when was the last time they heard him rock THIS HARD when they'll hear this CD, and the young generation -who might be less familiar with Andy's music- will immediately understand why he has been such a big influence on european rockmusic (and beyond) from 1958 up until the present day.
His many followers and imitators got a new standard to aim for: Andy substantially raised the bar on this new CD, which contains some of his best playing and singing ever!
But don't take our word for it. Buy the album, and prepare to be floored!
The official release of the CD was on may 22, 2008 during the international Pasar Malam Besar festival in the Hague, where Andy and Tjendol Sunrise played another historic concert together, celebrating the 50th anniversary of dutch pop music. During this concert, the first copy of the CD was presented to Andy by Jan Akkerman, after which Jan, Andy and Tjendol Sunrise played 2 songs together on stage!
"21st Century Rock" is still available at all major record stores in Holland, distributed by Suburban!
The CD is also still widely available at online CD stores throughout Europe and iTunes!

NEWS UPDATE:
In the summer of 2011, Tjendol Sunrise released their groundbreaking "There's Always Tomorrow" album, which updated and extended their trademark Rock & Roll sound by fusing it with some of their other musical influences, making the songs appeal to a much broader audience than ever before.
They also saw this album as an opportunity to introduce the amazingly talented young blues/ rock/ country band The Kambing Kings, who quite brilliantly played along with Tjendol Sunrise on several of the album's tracks. Tjendol Sunrise presented the first copies of the CD to The Kambing Kings at the CD release before they all performed some songs together on stage.
