Extravaganza 2010
We made it! The tournament is over (I hope my marriage isn't!!). Below are the final brackets in case you're curious about how teams finished. Thank you all for your flexibility; we took so many unexpected turns in the road the past few weeks (to say nothing about the last 36 hours) that the tournament would not have turned out so well if you hadn't all been patient with me. Allow me to thank Diane Loyd for helping stage the tournament at St. Albans; Matt Brobeck who helped me find teams to replace the ones that pulled out; Charles Woods who offered Mathews Dickey's site as our fallback; the many people who helped run the clocks at the Sports Center; Dan Otto who helped save the tournament on Friday by offering more courts at the Sports Center when the inclement weather was its most threatening (and when the power went out at TJ); the many students at Thomas Jefferson School who served concessions, cleaned the gym, and did a bunch of other things I'm probably unaware of; and my greatest thanks goes to Iz Monroe and Peter Wright, the girls' coach and boys jv coach at TJ, who held down the fort admirably at TJ in my absence and were the glue holding the tournament in more ways than I can recount here. I'm sure in my bleary-eyed state, I'm forgetting many who helped bring this weekend to life, so please forgive me and thank you all again for participating in a wonderful weekend. Peace!
