Conflict:
There are several conflicts in the book Happy Kid!. Some are internal and some are external.
Internal Conflict:
There is one basic internal conflict in this book. This is the conlict between Kyle and his conscience. He usually thinks very negatively, but the book is kind of taking over his conscience and telling him what to do according to what the book says to do. Kyle is sometimes aware of this and thinks "why am I doing this?", but he still does it anyway.
External conflict:
There are a few different external conflicts in the book. The first one is between Kyle and his mother. His mother knows her son is so negative, that it is unhealthy for him to be that way. Also, because she is a family and teen counselor, she feels guilty that her own son is having difficulty with life. She's trying to fix it by bumbarding him with different methods to try and get him to be more positive. This only makes him more negative.
The next one is the conflict between Kyle and her sister. Her sister hates having him as a brother and makes fun of him daily. It's more than just the regular brother-sister teasing or fighting. I think this is another reason Kyle is so negative about everything. Negative influences in his life don't have a good impact on him.
Another one would be the conflict between Kyle and Jake. Kyle doesn't like Jake hanging around him thinking that Kyle is a troublemaker because he doesn't want a troublemaker rep because then he won't ever make any other friends because they would all be too scared to even approach him. Jake is kind of like Kyle's stalker and Kyle goes out of his way to avoid him, but that doesn't always work and he gets stuck in sticky situations.
P.O.V.:
Happy Kid! is in first person point of view. It is told from the view of Kyle and Kyle's thoughts.
