"A lab is a nurturing environment that aims to maximize the potential of students as scientists and as human beings." - Uri Alon

Our research is devoted to the study of a wide range of physical and mechanical phenomena and engineering problems in solids, multiphase composites, and porous media. Much of the research works conducted within our group is based on theoretical modeling and advanced computational methods development, computational mechanics, taking into account the behavior of solids and advanced complex and multi-phase materials under the actions of various loading. The problems considered within the group are often, in whole or in part, interdisciplinary in nature, reflecting a combination of methodologies, concepts and principles usually spanning several areas of materials science, physics, mechanics, mathematics, computer science, and combined civil and mechanical engineering.

To accomplish our research objectives, our tasks encompass computational mechanics, multiphysics modeling, numerical simulation, and computational engineering. We are particularly interested in modeling discontinuities and instabilities in multiphase composites, quasi-brittle and porous materials under static and dynamic loading by developing efficient numerical techniques.
