History:
2011-07-11: I took out the old non-working Odyssey (VPro V10) graphics card and put in the one I just bought. The "new" one had some bent pins on the small pin header (I straightened them) , and the long metal "rail" was bent on the end (where the single screw goes), but was easily straightened.
Short story: the "new" VPro V10 works. Cool!
2011-07-11: I installed more memory into the Fuel, and got this on the serial console:

2011-07-11: Testing the Fuel again, before upgrading it. I connected the Fuel to a monitor, mouse and keyboard (through the usual KVM), I also connected a null modem cable to the first (lower) serial port, which was connected to a usb-to-serial adapter connected to my FreeBSD workstation. From the FreeBSD machine I issued
cu -l /dev/cuaU0 -s9600
and got connected. I got a white screen on the monitor connected to the fuel, and on the serial console I got

Hmm, well it is working as good or bad as before.
2011-07-11: the package with the VPro V10 and the DIMMs arrived today. I was a bitt worried when I saw that static shielding bags hadn't been used, but  as it turned out, everything is working.

2011-07-06: I just bought a used VPro V10 from a Nekochan member for EUR 87 (EUR 70 + EUR 17 in shipping). The seller added 2 x 256 MB DIMMs as a free bonus. Nice!

2010-06-26: the hard drive (IBM 73 GB Ultra 320 drive) is dead (or misconfigured). Swapped it for another I had lying around, and now I get this:

2010-06-25: second try. I connected a usb-to serial adapter to my workstation (FreeBSD), and a null modem cable to that, and to the first (lower) serial port on on the Fuel. Then, on my FreeBSD workstation (as root) I issued cu -l /dev/cuaU0 -s9600 and got "connected". After powering up the Fuel, I get output, like this:

2010-06-25: I bought the machine, together with the SGI Software Library (IRIX 6.5.16, 18 CDs). After opening it, checking that cables were connected (I had to connect the hard drive), I connected it to my KVM switch, using a DVI-to VGA adapter, but after the "flash red, flash white" procedure, It would just continue flashing white, and I would end  up with vertical "color bars" (like thin confetti stripes) on my monitor (1280x1024). I tried connecting a separate keyboard, and now I get a mouse pointer on a black screen, much better. Still it flashes white.
