Instead, wait until the green led in the power button blinks, then double-press the power button (like a double-click with the mouse). OS info: FreeBSD, Solaris, Links: http://www.blade-1000.com/, OBP reference, History: 2011-08-21: I tried powering up the machine again with a keyboard and mouse attached. At first it was unwilling (no light in power button), but after I opened it up and re-seated the memory, it came up. After starting to boot from the hard drive, it powered off again. Perhaps the drive is dying. I replaced the drive with my new 73.4 GB drive, and booted again. Of course it can't boot from the drive. From the OBP, this is what it says about the drive (transcribed): ok probe-scsiLiD HA LUN --- Port WWN --- ----- Disk description ----- 1 1 0 2100000c504fe195 IBM-ESXSST373307FC F B35Fokand boot cdrom I have figured out one thing: The machine powers on every time, but the fans do not start every time. Most of the times they stay silent when the machine powers up, and then nothing more happens. When the fans start, the machine beeps and the power light blinks, then turms teady green. After that the hard drive spins up. Nothing more happens. 2010-06-27: well, the machine powers up (both the Sun logo and the green power light shines) and the fans run. No image on screen, and no reaction on the keyboard. However, Stop-N equivalent (from OpenBoot Emergency Procedures) gives me this on the serial (ttya, 9600 baud) console: Memory Configuration: Segment @ Base: 0 Size: 1024 MB ( 2-Way)Interesting. Now How to get the screen working. This page claims that the Sun Blade 1000 only will boot with a Sun USB Keyboard attached. Well, mine starts without a keyboard connected. Perhaps it only works now and then? I still haven't managed a full boot. 2010-06-25: I bought the machine. According to the seller, it doesn't power on at all. A challenge. |
