As from a boy I have always enjoyed drawing. But growing up in the early forties in a
restricted war zone with no art shops there were few opportunities to develop
this. Then there was National Service,
family and work. So it was not until my late 50’s that I started to paint with
watercolours and oils. I attended
classes at my local college, thinking it would give me something to do in my
retirement.
I am mostly self-taught, though I have been on several courses by professional artists. I now paint in Watercolours, Oils, Acrylics, Pastels and Bees-Wax, with the Timsbury Art Group, the Somer Artists, and run the U3A Pastel Painting Group. I also run Art Days for TLC, Carers Days, and other groups at the Ammerdown Centre throughout the year. |
