Bardstown Middle School is implementing new research based strategies for instruction and assessment referred to as CASL (Classroom Assessment for Student Learning) as part of the requirements in meeting KY Senate Bill 1. CASL changes the traditional concept of "grades and grading" to a philosophy of assessing learning targets on a mastery level scale. To see an explanation of the new grading system, click HERE.
Student supplies:
Students will need notebook filler paper, pencils (wood or mechanical) and erasers for math class.
Students will need their own supply of paper, pencils and erasers throughout the entire school year, not just the first day. Please stock up on materials when you see them on sale. MATH SKILLS GROUP CLASSES
As professional educators aware of the varying needs of diverse students, we have incorporated a data-driven flexible grouping strategy for delivering mathematics instruction to our students. A Note about EXTRA CREDIT - In accordance with our implementation of CASL and standards based grading, extra credit is no longer available. Students are encouraged to master all their learning targets and can continue studying and re-learning so they can re-test unmastered targets to achieve mastery and thereby improve their grade.
