MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION; While we know that illness is a regular part of life, we here at Willow Hill Daycare take the health of each and every child in our care very seriously. Consequently, we have set forth the following guidelines for the administration of medicines. * We will administer prescription medications for whom a plan has been made and approved by the child's physician. Medication will need to be in it's original container and have a current date. We ask that if it is at all possible to administer these medications before you arrive at the center, to please do so. NO MEDICATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE LEFT IN THE CENTER OVER NIGHT. * We will administer non-prescription medications on an as needed basis. Medications such as but not limited to diaper cream, sunscreen & insect repellent can also be administered but are NOT provided by the day care. **NOTE - All parents will need to sign a medical release for the administration of any non-prescription or prescription medications.
IMMUNIZATIONS; Each child will be required to have age appropriate update immunizations. A copy of immunizations and dates administered will be kept in the child's personal file and updated regularly as needed. ALLERGIES AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS; All allergies and dietary restrictions should be listed on the child's medical form that is filled out upon enrollment. In the event that a child develops an allergy while enrolled in the daycare, it is the responsibility of the parent to make the center aware of this and have the records updated. SICK POLICY; SICK CHILDREN BELONG AT HOME! Each parent is expected to make a rational decision of whether to bring their child to daycare in the event of illness. While there is no cure for the common cold, colds do turn into something much worse if not taken care of properly and each parent must take responsibility for making this decision. If you are in doubt, please call the center to discuss your child sypmtoms. Remember, you are not only responsible for your own child, but you must think about the other children in the center and do all that you can to keep your child from possibly spreading diseases. We at Willow Hill Daycare can only do so much. We need TOTAL cooperation from all parents when attempting to keep all children and staff healthy. Depending on the severity of the illness, children who become ill while at the daycare center will be evaluated and a decision will be made on an individual basis as to whether the child should be isolated from the other children and the parents are to be called. Parents will be contacted at the emergency numbers that are provided upon enrollment to alert them of their child's situation. Parents are encouraged to do all that they can to either pick up their child or have the alternate person pick up the child as soon as possible. If the center must call the parent to have the child picked up early, child will need to be picked up within one hour of the parent being called. Situations that will require a child be picked up early are but not limited to: * Children who have a fever of 100 degrees of higher. - Child will not be premitted to return to daycare until their fever has been gone for 24 hours. * Children who are vomiting. - Child will not be allowed to return to daycare until they have gone 24 hours without vomiting. * Children iwth Diarrhea - Child will not be allowed to return to daycare until they have solid stools. **NOTE: CHILDREN WHO EXIBIT SIGNS OF BEING ILL AND MUST LEAVE EARLY WILL BE ISOLATED IN A QUIET CORNER UNTIL PICKED UP BY A PARENT OR DESIGNATED ALTERNATE PERSON. CONTAGIOUS DISEASES : PINKEYE/CONJUNCTIVITIS, IMPETIGO, STREP etc.. * The safety and health of all enrolled children is our top priority, therefore the following rule will be stricktly enforced. Children who have been diagnosed with a contagious disease will be excluded from daycare until they have had one full treatment for the disease as prescribed by the child's physician. In the event that the provider discovers signs of a contagious disease while in the center, the parent will be required to pick up the child immediately. Parents will need to acquire a signed form from the family physician stateing that the child is clear to return to daycare.
EMERGENCY ILLNESS OR INJURY; In the event of a serious illness or accidental injury while at the center, 911 will be called first and then the parents. An ambulance will be dispatched and the child will be taken to the Chambersburg Hospital for treatment. Parents will be expected to meet the ambulance at the emergency room. Due to the fact that there is only one provider onsite at this time, all of the other parents will be contacted to come pick up their children so that the provider can accompany the child in the ambulance to the hospital. All accidents will be recorded and kept in the child's personal file at the daycare. Parents will be required to view details of the event and sign the bottom of the report to indicate that they have been made aware of the event in question. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL STAFF MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE FIRST AID & CPR TRAINING. Minor Injuries; In the event of a minor injury such as but not limited to cuts, scrapes and bruises, the child will be treated onsite by the provider on duty. An "incident report" will be filled out for the parent to view and sign upon their arrival to pick up the child as an indication that they were made aware of the incident. A complete First Aid Kit is kept at the center and accessable at all times by staff members. |
