-- 2012 -- 5/9 - A new edition to Life through a Monitor! 5/5 - It's been a bit, happy Cinco de Mayo. I think I'll put some new stuff up soonish. 3/30 - Another song is now available from the "album" - Love Again. I realized that the first two demos were somewhat sorrowful sounding, so this one is a bit more upbeat (musically at least). Hooray for bluegrass influence. 3/22 - Due to the overwhelming strain of coffee delivery we are discontinuing the service indefinitely. Thank you for your understanding. 3/19 - We now deliver coffee - order a cup right now via email.* *numerous restrictions apply. 3/4 - Listen to Cabin (from the Album Ruin). 2/18 - So I've been reading a lot of xkcd lately, and was inspired to branch into the world of comics as well. So here is the first attempt, hopefully it's not too derivative: Life through a Monitor. 2/15 - Info, Track listing and lyrics are now available for ruins, more mp3s will be available soon as well. Check it out. 2/11 - Balance is everything, so to even out the large amount of text I've dumped on here lately, I'm adding some music. I've put a demo of the the title track song for the new "album" Ruins. So go ahead and take a listen here. More lyrics and demos to come. 1/31 - The revised version of Till We Loved is now available. Now with many less errors. Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to the revision process. I'm sure there are still some errors hiding out in the text, so if you catch some, point them out. Also a sneak peak at something in the works. Cheers! 1/19 - I've added a brief couple sentence of Arabic translation to illustrate the difficulty translating alliteration. Idwar al-Kharrat's, Rama and the Dragon. 1/13 - So I promised revisions, but I've been a bit distracted lately between life and my new computer -- they are still coming. If that isn't enough, here is a wonderful and haunting scene from some real literature (I'm thinking of naming my computer after the the chapter title...): "Something is upsetting you, isn't it?" "Nothing at all. Indeed I was just thinking for the thirtieth time what a good thing it is that I broke off our engagement and decided not to become your wife. You wouldn't be much of a husband, you know. If I married you, I might some day give you a note to take to another man I'd fallen in love with and I'm sure you'd take it to him and bring me back his answer. And you'd still be carrying my little notes when you were forty..."1/7 - A revised edition of the novel will be posted shortly, now free of many typos (seriously begin and began, why?!). Oh, and happy new year! -- 2011-- 12/12 - The Novel is now available for download (and it's free!). Happy Holidays. 10/28 - Till We Loved. A Novel. 10/5 - Months have passed! How can this be? But be consoled (you imaginary internet readers who are not me) something big is coming. 8/17 - (Soon to be) filled with videos of epic starcraft 2 blunders www.sc2fail.com is your site for laughing at and learning from others' mistakes. So check it out. 6/28 - From afar: a poem. 5/23 - I've added a new section for Arabic Translations. Check out my first example: a paragraph from Idwar Kharrat's The Open Wound. More to come (eventually). 4/6 - Back before the current decade, in 2009 I mentioned a piece of fine art that I was working on titled, Attack of the Locust. I have at last decided to release this piece for your viewing pleasure! Visit The Sights. 4/1 - The Noble Organization has declared this website the most important contribution to human society since Al Gore invented the internet. [Editor's Note 4/6: Seriously, its true. In other news congress decided to change April Fool's from Day to Month, just to further annoy the American public.] 3/25 - Rather than add anything new, I've added something old: Love in the Digital Age. 3/3 - More food. 1/23 - So last summer we made a fancy dinner every week, stuff like gnocchi, borscht (not so fancy), risotto, etc. One of my plans was to document this (photographically) and post the images here. However, I got so distracted with the eating that I forgot to post images. So this new year I will make a better effort to update the taste section with new images and such - starting with this photo of biscotti! 1/21 - Has it really been six months already?! Apparently the turn of the ear spurred numerous musicians to release new albums (Decemberist - The King is Dead, Jan 18; Bright Eyes - The People' Key, Feb 15; Iron & Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean, Jan 25)[editor's note 4/6: above "ear" should be "year", but ear seemed a fitting mistake]. None of what I've heard has blown me away. The Decemberist have an excellent folk ballad (June Hymn) worth the listen but the rest of the album is just decent. Kiss Each Other Clean is hard to judge, since it sounds little like the acoustic whispers of the past this review does an excellent job summing it up. And Bright Eyes has revealed only one track off the album so far that sounds rather like more of the same. ---2010--- 9/29 - Sufjan Stevens, after hibernating through several New York winters, is back to making his own music. (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130049247) Thanks to NPR for the first listen. The album while certainly a departure is not a complete about-face for the musician who returns to the electronic sounds of 2001's Enjoy Your Rabbit and with what he has learned vocally from Illinois. 9/7 - The last part of the story is now up: The Banner Girl You may be saying, "that doesn't seem to be much of a conclusion." Well thats because by 'last part' I really mean the last part of the first chapter of a larger story, which may or may not eventually show up. 9/6 - This is neat: http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/. Sure the Arcade Fire is meh, and the song is meh, and the actual video is meh, and NPR's glowing review of it is meh ( I mean seriously, not that emotionally powerfully), and the story behind it is meh. But the idea: That is neat. ps. the next part of the story is coming soon... 8/10 - Next installment up: Part 8 - Brains. As you might expect it is about zombies. 8/5 - You should listen to this: http://www.myspace.com/brittanyemusic. 8/1 - Its actually 7/31 for another 22 minutes, but 8/1 looked nicer. Regardless, Part 7 - Muscle. 7/28 - and Part 6 - An Inheritance 7/22 - An expedient update - Part 5 - Day-Remembering. And even more exciting is that Part 6 is already ready too, but I'll space it out a bit! Who'd have thought I'd get ahead of myself. 7/18 - It's 'bout time: Part 4 - The Accident 6/17 - As part of my effort to not entirely forget all I have learned over the year, I am compiling my Arabic vocabulary here: Vocabulary (from Alif-Baa, Al-Kitaab vol. 1 and 2). Make use of it if you like. 5/26 - Yet another update: Part 3 - The Madman's Tale 5/15 - Part 2 - The Chief and a quote from an LA times article: http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/14/local/la-me-0514-homeboy-industries-20100514 "If these were puppies or little kids, we wouldn't be in this trouble,"Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries Said"But they're tattooed gang members with records. So I think a lot of people love this place, but not the folks who can write the big checks, the 'Save the Hollywood sign' check." There are very few things that can better illustrate the ridiculousness of America. 4/30 - Soon is Now. The first installment of the Story is available: Part 1 - The Parade. 4/29 - If you haven't heard him yet check out Josh Ritter's Latest Album. Another excellent album of songwriting brilliance. In other news, the first installment of the writing associated with the new gallery is coming very soon,* I promise. *note: Acts 1:7 4/11 - Check out this New Gallery as a preview for some upcoming stuff. 3/28 - Why did CC get rid of the blank white face bulletins and the faux stained glass?! Now they've replaced them with a massive ink drain world map and a passe cross. 2/27 - We all have to sell out someday: New Music Available 2/16 - Two of the most important holidays in the world have just passed and to commemorate them I have uploaded a picture of a sunflower surrounded by some small purple flowers, with some trees in the background and a blue sky. Check it out at The Sights. Enjoy! ---2009--- 11/12 - I'd just like to extend my gratitude to Jay Cutler, we couldn't have done it without him. As Indy4393 eloquently stated: "damn suck all around both the 9ers & bears!!!" 11/4 - My ((in)famous?) recipe for Hummus Saagwala now available. 9/17 - I got a Grassland Animals sketch book. Attack of the Locust coming soon! 9/10 - A word about the summer collection: pastime. 8/21 - Thank God for facebook, I'm not sure I'd remember who I was without it. 8/14 - Tomorrow I am homeless, but rather than look for a real place to live, I am instead opting for a virtual hearth to call my own. The site is now available thanks to google sites! | So naturally you may be wondering to yourself, "What is this magical internet residence that I am looking at?" Questions? Concerns? Hate Mail?...
