The Weigh is a peer-led bariatric surgery support group affiliated with
the Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity and hosted by The
Grace Place. Led by Joe Estep, The Weigh is designed to provide pre and
post surgical support for bariatric patents in the Hermitage, Tennessee
area. The Weigh offers bariatric patients a support system for long-term success following bariatric surgery. Besides tips from the Center on such things as exercise, portion control, nutrition, etc. the group also provides accountability and companionship. Significant weight loss and the lifestyle changes that occur following bariatric surgery can be difficult for “outsiders” to understand and support groups provide a network of others who have gone through these changes and can share advice, strategies, and motivation. The Weigh also offers those who are considering weight-loss surgery a chance to learn more about the process and the expectations following surgery. Families of bariatric patients are also welcome to attend meetings to understand the changes that their loved one is going through. |
