The Wee Gallery has been set up as a social enterprise, with among its aims an intention to be as socially inclusive as possible. The intention is to put on 10 exhibitions a year, each of approximately 4 weeks duration. These will be themed to coincide with public events and seasonal activities, and will include exhibitions from schools, local arts and craft groups, commercial exhibitions and the occasional display of art for art’s sake.

The gallery is sited inside a former toilet block in the centre of Kelso, immediately adjacent to the largest car park in the town. The display space consists of approximately 20 liner metres of blank display space of 2 metres high, completely open plan. This is lit with a combination of spot lights and natural lighting, flexible in either adding or subtracting lighting to suit the material being displayed.

There is a simple cord hanging system suitable for framed pictures, photographs, ceramics etc., and display cases are available for displaying jewellery or other smaller items.

There are basic kitchen facilities available, as well as a disabled bathroom and baby changing facilities. There is also a broadband line and telephone line available to enable exhibition invigilators to continue working while based at the gallery.

A variety of economic models are available depending on what is being displayed. Socially inclusive exhibitions will be subsidised, commercial exhibitions will be charged an appropriate combination of a hiring charge and or commission on works sold.
