The Silent Ballet, April 23, 2007

"The Weak Men have created a rather remarkable album with Dog, which is clearly an improvement over Deer. The amateurish quality which marked the band's previous work has been shrugged off and we're witnessing a band digging deeply into its personal reservoirs to craft a rich, engaging album. A balance between earthy tones and celestial ambitions is not only attempted, but performed with such confidence that it's difficult to believe that The Weak Men haven't been at this for ages. This is one rising star to watch; there's nothing weak about these men (and woman)."

The Silent Ballet, March 16, 2007

"Compositionally, Weak Men excel.  A guitar and drum foundation is implemented with piano, strings, and vocals, as well as variations to the norm, such as glockenspiel and the infamous bow on guitar (doing Jimmy Page proud!). Some tracks spark to life with vibrant energy ("Please Breathe," "Core"), recalling an authoritative tone akin to Neil on Impression. Others are more deliberate in the track's progression ("Concerto In E Minor For Piano, Violin And Guitar (A Waltz)," "Then and Now," "A Song for Carl Malone") and vocals find a home in the more delicate soundscapes presented. The thirty minute CD observes the band attempting a variety much more ambitious than most who tread down this path, and we applaud them for that. Even more, because this doesn't sacrifice the cohesion of the tracks, which are tied together strongly with a hopeful aura."

The Daily Universe, February 1, 2006

"For more than a year now, the Weak Men have blazed a trail as Provo's foremost post-rock band. Influenced by bands such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mono and Sigur Rós, the Weak Men have carefully devised and manipulated their sound to create an art unique and representative of themselves while maintaining traditional post-rock form."
