History The two constituent halves of the United Kingdoms, the Varangian Empire and the Kingdom of Samaru, each have a long history of rule by dynastic sovereigns. More than a century ago, the Varangian state, after more than a hundred years of civil war, modified the authoritarian nature of their sovereign and installed a parliament and a constitution leaving the dynastic ruler as a figurehead.
Similarly, fifty years ago, after the great Munishan-Felixan war, Samaru was transformed into a constitutional monarchy after the last member of the ruling dynasty, Prince Funas Descas Samaru, died of illness. After a short period of republicanism, during which time the nobility was largely purged, a new royalist government came into power and reinstalled a constitutional monarch. Today, Tsarina Anastasia Morgana Halych Orlov of the Varangian Empire and King Gustav Corvinus of the Kingdom of Samaru, sit as co-monarchs over the United Kingdoms. In parallel to the parliamentary and legal processes uniting the two entities, the heirs to both thrones, Tsaryevich Riurik Orlov of Vrangia and Princess Agnetha Corvinus of Samaru, are betrothed to be married when both are of majority age. The union of the two dynasties contributes to a bloodline in Varangia that is unmatched in the number of royals that have married into the Halych dynasty. These include the Clark dynasty of Blackbears, the Samaru dynasty of Samaru, the de Medina dynasty of the Kingdom of Castile and Leon, and the Horthy dynasty in the Steppe. Members of the Dynasties Anastasia Morgana Halych Orlov, Tsarina The Tsarina was born Morgana Halych to Tsar Sebastien Halych and Tsarina Carmen. As the third born child of Tsar and Tsarina, she was given the title of Marchioness of Carniola when she reached majority age. After the abdication of her two older brothers, Grand Prince Mattias and Marquis Johann, she ascended to the throne as Tsarina. She accepted her Orthodox name, Anastasia upon her ascension to the throne. Gustav Nicolas Corvinus, King Gustav Nicolas Corvinus was born to Nicolas and Ursula Corvinus, the Baron and Baroness of Niederwolter. His parents were killed in the republican purge ten years ago, but he managed to escape along with a handful of other nobles to the Kingdom of Kosmania. He was selected by the parliament of Samaru to serve as their constitutional sovereign when the monarchy was restored. Riurik Vladimir Orlov, Tsaryevich Riurik Vladimir Orlov is the only child of Tsarina Anastasia and her first husband, Pyotr Orlov, who is now deceased. Riurik is the heir to the throne of the United Kingdoms. Agnetha Priscilla Corvinus, Princess Agnetha Corvinus is the daughter of King Gustav and Queen Stephanie of Samaru. She is betrothed to Tsaryevich Riurik.
