Welcome to the homepage for the United Kingdoms of Varangia and Samaru, a nation-state system in the region of Wysteria.
ABOUT
The United Kingdoms are a system of states that share similiar linguistic, cultural, and social attributes as well as economic and strategic worldviews. Thus, in 2008, the Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia, the Kingdom of the Steppe, the Kingdom of Florenzia, and the Kingdom of Samaru created the entity known as the United Kingdoms, or UKS for short. In addition to the component states, the dependencies of the Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia: the Dominion of Fridwald, the Dominion of Polonija, and the Dominion of Livoniya, are considered full members of the United Kingdoms.
Administratively, the capital of this federative system of states is Muscovy on the continent of Lyons. But, for three months of every year, June-August, the United Kingdoms are ruled from Samaru, with a subset of the parliament temporarily relocating to Interlaaken in those months.
Monarchy
As the name suggests, the United Kingdoms are ruled in name by monarchs. The current sovereigns of the United Kingdoms are Her most sovereign and orthodox majesty, Tsarina Anastasia Morgana Halych Orlov and his most serene highness, King Gustav Nicolas Corvinus. Parliament
The United Kingdoms were founded as a constitutional monarchy. A bicameral parliament known as the Rada, promulgates and enforces the law in the United Kingdoms. Administration
The leader of the majority coalition in the Boyar Soviet is also the executive of the United Kingdoms' bureaucratic administration. That individual, known as the Reichschancellor, is responsible for the day to day administration of the United Kingdoms.
Administratively, the kingdoms are governed on a day-to-day basis by a series of ministries with leaders who report directly to the Reichschancellor. These ministries administer the nuts and bolts activities that the government undertakes on a daily basis to ensure that the United Kingdoms can incur debt, defend its sovereign territory, provide oversight for key infrastructure and commercial sectors, and can provide justice.
