We had a lot of fun carving our halloween pumpkins last weekend! Besides me losing a few fingers (just kidding... just a few cuts!), the evening was pretty fun. Yuri and Kota joined Ben, Michael, and I. It is sad to think that they will be heading back to Japan in less than two months!
Here are a few photos of our hard work... |

Wow, fall came quickly in the Willamette Valley and is heading right into winter. A little boy came by and painted all the leaves on the trees yellow, orange, red, and deep purple. I find myself gazing at them like they are some sort of great artist's work hanging in the Louvre. I love that frost blankets the morning around 6AM (but is quickly gone by 7AM).
My work gave me a bus pass so I ride the SMART transit on normal days. On the not so normal days, I drive into Portland (I give myself a good hour and fifteen minutes for that) to attend Northwest Service Academy workshops. Some are interesting while others seem like they could be a bit more dense. Sadly, I have yet to take notes. It has all been review.
Last week the City of Wilsonville celebrated Goat Day. We hired a cattle company to bring in about 300 goats to munch away at the English Ivy, a troublesome invasive that is taking over the park. The event was fun and a lot of people came to see the goats and taste different goat products (cheeses, milk, and yogurt).
Next up is our Harvest Festival on Halloween! We have some Pygora Goats coming, a story teller, pumpkin decorating, and gardening information. All in our recently restored Stein-Boozier Barn. Haybales and pumpkins included. Should be a fun family event!
Outside of work, we've been having a lot of fun too... besides bouts of winter flu, we went to a pumpkin patch with some friends, Sam came and visited me in Portland, Ben went to a SCBWI conference, and we made some trips out to Whole Foods in Tualatin and REI. Lot's of movie watching too: Adam, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D, and Where the Wild Things Are (this movie brought up a great film critique discussion between Ben, Kevin, and I - I personally thought it was cute but also a bit too heavy on the melancholic side with not enough happiness. Reminded me of how difficult it is to be a child-) |
