September 15th - Jolene! It is no longer on the shelves: Jolene has just been released together with a steaming video:
While you are at it, be sure to check the other recent releases on Subroutine. In one of them, Sugarettees Joep and Cox are involved, carrying the fabulous name The Very Sexuals. Their 8 track album Post-Apocalyptic Love is free to download as well, and you should do so! Check it out here. The other release is Vox Von Braun's Something Ain't Wrong. Sugarette involvment here does not go further than Joep designing the cover art, but we have been on the road with them to the UK and are excited about finally pumping their music up on our stereos. As you may have noticed, things have quieted down a bit. We are slowly making preparations for new songs. You'll here from us when we have something new to say! May 17th - What We Have Been Up To?It's been a while since we posted, and that is because we have been quite busy, both in our personal lives as in our musical adventures - what made us lazy in keeping this website up to date. So What Have We Been Up To? * We spent a day in a local strip club, recording a video clip for Jolene. This time the video will features ourselves. Expect it to air in a few weeks. * We played a very nice gig, and had a great time in Belgium in the lovely and cool club Flodder in Langemark. * We played two gigs the local towns, at JC de Bunker in Gemert and at the Knipoog Festival in Boekel. * We got drunk in Leeuwarden after our performance at podium Romein for 3VOOR12's tenth year anniversary, which was a very uplifting event. Video of the gig will be available soon. * Joep and Cox have been recording a set of songs for The Very Sexuals, an exciting project that you willl be happy to hear from as soon as it's out. * Joep and Iskaa have rehearsed an acoustic set, to be performed for the first tonight at the Fifth Psychedelic Party at the TAC in Eindhoven. They will also join the Eindhoven SiSoCity festival next Monday to play a handful of songs. * Contrary to popular belief, Iskaa and Marnix are still part of FOAM, who are advancing their music steadily. For the same 3VOOR12 tenth year anniversary, Marnix picked up a guitar and sung along with the other band members Iskaa, Hugo and Wouter for a televised acoustical performance. April 9th - 3FM ClipJoep & Iskaa acoustic, performing live for 3FM: March 28th - Radio StuffRadio & TV Yesterday we played at studio Desmet for Radio 3VOOR12 Live. The performance was broadcast live on 3FM and captured for TV for the 3voor12 digital channel. It was a first-timer for us, playing live on national radio, weehoo! On the 3voor12 website you can find a clip of Enola Gay and as far as I know the other 3 songs (Godspeed, Little I Love, Ron Jeremy) will soon also be available from there. Studio desmet is a real nice place to play and the VPRO staff was very friendly, even though we shocked them by not playing ReadySteady. Next sunday we are playing on national radio again, where will play ReadySteady: Iskaa and Joep are making a guest appearance in NCRV's Bring it on. If you tune in to 3FM at 19:45, you'll hear them playing a laid back, acoustic version of ReadySteady. Live We have our first Belgian gig confirmed: on April 25th we will be playing in Club Flodder in the small Belgium town of Langemark :) February 16th - Overview

January 2nd 2008 - Happy Newyear :)And a happy first news message: America's independent internet Radio Station KEXP will include ReadySteady in their daily Song of the Day podcast on January 3rd. Click on this link to subscribe to their podcast with iTunes, and follow this one if you'd like to use another service to subscribe. Next up for us will be the official single release of ReadySteady, in approximately two weeks time. Simultaneously, a music video for Ready Steady will be made available. The b-side of the single, Rain or Shine, is already up on the Sugarette myspace. Even before its release, there is good news about ReadySteady: at place 24 it entered the Kink40, a weekly top40 of the country's leading alternative radio station, and the song is almost daily on their playlist! November 21st 2007 - Musicfrom.nlHi there! Musicfrom.nl is giving away signed CD's and free tickets for one of our shows. They've also published an interview where Joep talks about the background of every song on Love & Other Perversities. November 13th 2007 - Reviews! Noorderslag!A lot of reviews have been published lately, on our live performances and on the album. We received our first mention in a national newspaper with a good reviewin NRC Next, who gave our work 3 out 5 points and published an odd pictured along with it. You can check all the praise and comments in the Reviews section on your right. In other news: we are happy to announce that The Sugarettes will be playing the Noorderslag festival in Groningen in January. Iskaa has been a faithful visitor of the festival and Marnix has joined her in recent years. This year, both will be on the other side where The Sugarettes will share the stage with the likes of Voicst, Hospital Bombers and Gram. November 11th 2007 - Big in the U.S.!Well not exactly big, but some internet / college radio stations are playing Sugarette songs :-). The cool KEXP in Seattle picked up on ReadySteady (click here and select nov. 9th 9:30 to listen), and Dead Air Radio in Hollywood, broadcasting on indie1031, digs Bounce. November 8th 2007 - CD release party, ty!
October 12th 2007 - 16 days, 7 shows.
We are taking two weeks off (that is: Iskaa flies to Spain to relax, while us other 3 continue working our asses of in daily life). When Iskaa returns we will be getting ready for our CD release party in plan-2 in Eindhoven and the closing Gig of the Tall Poppies Tour in the MS Stubnitz in Amsterdam. Details to follow.
October 8th 2007 - Album out!
October 4th 2007 - After London: Paradiso!
September 26th 2007 - Tall Poppies TourWe have been looking forward to this date with anxiety: we are leaving for the UK to be part of the Tall Poppies Tour, which will lead us to London, Great Harwood and Liverpool. We share the bill with three exciting bands: Appie Kim, Hallo Venray and Vox Von Braun. For most of the Sugarettes this is a first-timer playing outside of the Netherlands, only Cox has been to Africa with a hugely popular Nigerian band. Or Sudanese. Or... I don't remember, it is a strange story anyway. Richard Foster from Incendiary Magazine, who made this tour happen in collaboration with Koen ter Heegde from Subroutine Records, will be joining us to drink a pint or two at the venues while spinning his collection of awkward and great records to fill the gaps of silence that us bands drop. September 10th 2007 - Finished! And that's it: last week we brought the product of what has kept us busy for the past few months, the audio master for Love & Other Perversities, to the production plant. It's just a matter of a little time before we can officialy release it! | Shop Myspace Bio Shows There are no shows planned at this moment. Reviews Links |
