Coaches

Mike Jefferys 

 Mike joined the Club in early 2002, taking the helm from Bryan Patterson in 2007. He came from Zimbabwe via Australia, where he earned the highly respected Senior Coaching Certificate from the Australian Institute of Sports, majoring in talent development. Prior to this Mike had trained junior squads for the World Championships from 1997. He was also the Fitness Trainer and Nutritional Advisor to the Men's teams.

Mike has coached at the USA Junior Squads, Universal Squash Camps in the UK and USA and been a guest coach at Princeton University and other camps. He has run The Squash Club's Elite and General Camps in Philadelphia and is the Chestnut Hill Academy Varsity and Middle School coach. CHA Varsity has won Titles in the Inter-Ac in 2005 and MASA in 2009; they have achieved 3rd and 5th places in the National High Schools Team Tournaments.

Mike also has a BSc degree, Fitness, Nutrition, Business and Communication diplomas. He has been playing squash for 35 years and was a Southern Africa first league men's player. Mike coached the Zimbabwe junior men's teams for the 1998 and 2000 World Championships, the 1998, 1999 and 2000 Southern African Schools Championships (3 Gold medals) and was Zim men's squash fitness and nutrition coach from 1999 to 2000.

Tina Rix

Tina graduated with a BSc Honours Degree in Sports Studies from Southampton Uni., U.K. and joined the CHASS team in October 2006. She previously worked for England Squash as a Community Squash coach within the South of England. During this time she helped to develop squash within schools and create awareness of the game. She represented England throughout her Junior Career at European and World Championship events.

 

Tina was part of the England U19 Team that won the World Championships in Malaysia 2001. She continues to play on the WISPA world circuit where her current World Ranking stands at 96 which she is aiming to improve on this coming year. Tina was also recently part of the U.S coaching team that worked with the U13, U15 and U17 teams at the Can-Ams in September 2007.

Suzanna Pierrepont

Now departed. To New York. Having reached her highest WISPA World ranking, # 25, Suzie has moved to take advantage of the flow of top WISPA players through the NY area. All the best, Suzie!

Suzie has joined the team at TSC as our first touring professional. Currently in her 5th season on the womens tour she now bases herself at CHASS training, playing and coaching. Before turning pro she enjoyed a successful junior career collecting 2 British titles, Dutch, German andÊScottishÊjunior open titles, and was also European U19 champion. Suzie finished her junior days as England number 1 and team captain at the Junior Womens World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, where the team finnished 3rd.

On the womens tour Suzie has reached 5 tour finals and won three tour titles, playing in events all over the world including Hong Kong, Malaysia and right here in the US. Currently ranked 35 after an injury last season, Suzie is hoping that her new training base at CHASS will help her push into the 20s by the end of the season, beating her career high ranking of 30.

Gilly Lane

We are very pleased to annouce that Gilly Lane has joined the TSC team as a 'training pro.' Gilly is currently pursuing the World Squash Circuit and has a highest World Ranking of 75. He will be available for a limited number of lessons during the year. If you are interested in taking a lesson with Gilly please contact us here at the club.

Gilly will be teaming up with Julian Illingworth for some Elite Camps next Summer - 2010. Check back for details.
