Welcome to  The Scholars Way an unofficial  long distance footpath that connects Oxford to Cambridge through four shire counties using existing public rights of way.

This is an historic route that has been in existence for 800 years. In 1209 students, who fled Oxford after the killing by bow and arrow of a local Oxford person, escaped persecution by travelling across England finally settling in Cambridge..

The Oxford starting / end point is the Carfax tower (a corruption of the French carrefour meaning crossroads).
In Cambridge it is Great St. Marys church the historic centre of Cambridge city.
