About Us

Our ability to assess risk and prevent emerging vector-borne pathogens is hindered by lack of knowledge about causes of differential vector competence and vector capacity to transmit arboviruses. The Richards lab is focused on understanding vector-virus interactions to help improve vector-borne disease prevention strategies and thereby protect public health. We use a variety of methods to evaluate mechanistic causes of differential vector competence including virology, molecular biology, and genetics.
