TMJ for the Nintendo 3DS

posted Dec 27, 2010 4:40 AM by Daniel Gump

We're nearing the new year, which, among other things, means I am going to start the game engine for TMJ for its final home on the Nintendo 3DS Browser.  Since I know little more than the screen size of the 3DS and that it boasts more power than the DSi, much of the engine will be a guess that I will tweak once the handheld is available.  Where the DSi has a crippled HTML5 canvas, I am hoping that the 3DS will have full support so that I can make a tile-based engine with rotation and zooming.  If you look at HullBreach Online for the Wii, you can get an idea of the true power of the HTML5 canvas.  The demos at WiiOperaSDK also use the HTML5 canvas.  I will take a stab at making the parchment artwork for the intro sequence and will place that on 3DSPaint as the first demo to the game.  If possible, I will release it for DSiPaint, too.

Here and there.

Well, i've noticed that the enemies page was looking a little bare. I've uploaded and attached a picture of a troll i found online, as well as what it looks like "Whole" if it was continued. (It was just a troll face) I liked the picture i found online so i used that as inspiration for the troll i drew in paint under windows. (I'll post it here as well)

I found a nice picture for a dwarf next so i will begin working on that in a few hours once i wake up lol

I'm not the best artist, but i hope you like what's there!

(EDIT!)

I've also attached an unfinished painting i made with the same idea as the troll. I took more time to make sure this one looked pretty good. :) I've made him blinded and scarred on one eye and there are several differences you'll see.
I hope you guys like it!

*PS: If anyone is good at drawing hands for the dwarf in windows paint, let me know!!! lol
He's still only has one arm now, but i think you guys can get the picture. :P

Hey yall! It's Timodachi here.

Just to enlighten a few of the guy here at the TMJ dev team,

My real name is Tim, and most of you know me as Timo or Timodachi from Dsipaint. I've worked earlier on creating names for some of the many locations of the game. (Most notably Mt. Hildar to name since most are familiar with it.) But the work i had done had to be mailed to Hull. The reason being; It took me the longest time to figure out that i had to link my Yahoo address to a new gmail address to access and edit to the site here with my contributions. (Mind you i was new to gmail and using a DSi at the time).

I was on the contributions list the first time the wiki was created but i was removed due to absence which i can understand. For the past few months i fell off the face of the internet it seemed. I was too caught up in life with a job and graduating highschool as well as making decisions for college, that i neglected my newfound responsibilities to contribute to a project i had jumped in to.

I sincerely apologize for not being there helping you guys and especially Danny (Hull).
I wont let you all down this time. Now, i am here ready to help in any way i can. Be it more name brainstorming other other contributions. I'd just want to help as much as i can. :)

Also speaking, may it be that i please have my name restored on the contributions list?
This is the last i ask. I just want it known that i have helped before, and that i'm here to help make TMJ more as well.

Thank you for your time.

- Timothy. :)

Back on Track

posted Nov 12, 2010 10:58 PM by Jonathan des David

Hey guys,
It's taken a while but I'm finally back into the spriting groove! I've attatched the updated sword sprite sheet, which I'll also attatch to the weapons page.
On another note I posted a thread on the TMJ BB on DSiPaint entitled, "Design a Weapon." Here is the thread:

Hey everyone, PieBoy, weapon spriter of TMJ here.
As a way of getting the general community involved with production, I am taking weapon requests and idea's on this thread.

To get started:
1. Name your weapon.
2. Name your type of weapon eg. Sword, Bow & Arrow etc.
3. Give a detailed visual description of your weapon.
4. Give an explaination of things like the history, effects, and other details about the weapon.

Hope to hear from you guys.
When I have enough good suggestions I will sprite and upload them. Happy designing!
-PieBoy

I thought it would be a good way of getting everyone involved. Tell me what you think.
