Research

My PhD Thesis examines the interface between Prosody and Information Structure (IS) in Athenian Greek and Cypriot Greek. Specifically, it examines topic and focus and their realization in syntax and prosody especially intonation. Notions such as the scope of focus, post-lexical prominence conveyed by prosodic cues, word order, clefts are relevant.

I currently work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the project “Style. Language and Style in the Speeches of Thucydides” at the Department of Classical Studies and Philosophy of the University of Cyprus. In this project we explore the stylistic characteristics of Thucydides text; much emphasis is given in the use of particles, modality, tense and information structure.
