News & Announcements 8.17.2010 Read our latest newsletter... http://us1.campaign-archive.com/?u=36ee832becddc63a4a74aaa3f&id=08c4ec9e09 We have redesigned the project... Our theme camp is still underway and moving forward. We are currently making some changes to the camp design layout. Due to certain elements (mainly funding and booking) we will not be having a theatre stage as previously designed. But we are committed to creating a home base theme camp that will allow us to all display our part for participation, play, beats, eat and sleep. What sleep. The Placement team at BM has generously given us a whopping 300' x 200' site. With that, we have decided to create an amazing facade as the main entrance to the camp that will have shaded lounge areas, dance space, DJ booth and two bar set-ups. Behind that will be the living quarters complete with camp-only use kitchen, showers, evap area, recycling, and if we can swing it port-a-potty. We have the materials in-hand to create this set up and are beginning the pre-build this coming week in Santa Rosa headed up by Cousin Larry and Josh Eldo. Can't wait for you to be amazed. This design is not your typical camp entrance, it's your DropIt LikeIts Hott Spot. DJ Performance times and booking information can be requested at metrotheatreEvents@gmail.comOur Mission The goal of our project is two- fold. The primary focus of our project is to build a performing arts stage, and produce a fully programmed, sound equip, lighting equip show for burning man participants to attend during the nocturnal hours of the festival (several nights but not all). These performances will be pre-programmed, and end by 3am. Another element to the interactive aspect of our project is the pre-production website. On this website, our schedule will be listed and troops or artists who want to perform have the opportunity to email us and request a time slot in our evening program. The philosophy behind our project is to give people a chance to express themselves in a situation where they might not otherwise take a chance. We want to offer exhibition and creativity to the people by giving them an opportunity to be an artist, to be on a stage, and take a chance on a moment of artistry- wherein they ARE the art, instead of simply being an observer. At the same time we want to express ourselves as artists with our stage project. We want to give something to our community because we have the community to support the creation of this stage, and a construction as well as a production crew to support the artistic creativity we have developed over the past years. We want to participate this year by giving a gift to the attendees of Burning Man, instead of simply being an observer. Some of those in our crew have sworn to not attend unless they have a purpose. We want to give them a purpose, and we will do so by creating an artistic platform for all of us to partake, rather than simply observe. | BM 2010 DropIt LikeIts Hott Spot 3:00 & Edinburgh metrotheatreevents@gmail.com 7 THINGS WE ARE LOOKING FOR * 12' - 16' flat bed trailer or open box trailer * propane tanks 10 - 25 gal size * rope or L-wire lights * Truck to tow a trailer * large coolers for cold food storage (1-2) * large cushions * What would you like to contribute?
