About the man in the jacket

WHO IS THE MAN IN THE JACKET....?:

Simon Jacobs aka "the man in the jacket" was born in Hartlepool in the North East of England.
With a love of performing, entertaining people and making people smile, coupled with the feeling he gets when people say "how did you do that....?" it was only time before Simon came to magic, age 6.

After spending the next 20 years absorbed in magic books, watching magic, talking about magic, looking at magic and most importantl
y performing magic, learning all he could about the art, Simon is now available to hire.

Proficient in both close up magic, (card tricks, coin magic, rope magic), and the bigger illusions, (think the big, colourful tricks at kid's parties), and with a comical style, suitable for all ages, Simon can provide magic for any occasion. Whether you want an entertainer for a child's party, something different for your engagement, wedding reception or corporate event or amusement for your diners between courses Simon has the magic for you.

INFLUENCES:

At age 6 Simon was bought - as were most children of the '80's - a Paul Daniels magic set. But unlike most children that were bought that set Simon saw it as a life changing moment. Because ever since he opened that box he was hooked. After quickly learning all that had to offer Simon was hungry for more....

Growing up his main influence - from getting the set to watching every special, not to mention his show every Saturday night - was Paul Daniels. Not only was he a master of the huge stage illusions his dexterity performing close up magic, (especially his one cup and ball routine which can be found here http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=paul+daniels+chop+cup&aq=2 ), is amazing.

Later influences came from watching the big illusions on late night specials showcasing magicians such as Penn and Teller and David Copperfield.

Which brings us right up-to-date. Simon is constantly overwhelmed by the amazing magic being produced by the new breed of magicians such as Daniel Garcia, Rob Bromley and Luke Jermay to name but a few.
