Art can be an area where a student can freely express his or her own creativity through various media such as, painting, fibers & fabrics, 2D/3D, sculpture and illustration. Art can also be defined as theatrical performances such as cultural dancing and stage production.
Social studies can embrace art through many ways.
Using maps gives students a connection to understanding geographic locations and learning the different cultural regions around the world. Students can also learn historical information through the use of illustrations and political cartoons. When students are presented with the opportunity to various pieces of art from the past, they can begin to understand how siginifcant a role art plays in society.
