How did iMovieHD6 handle this?

Just for comparison… :

OK, some will tell us: did older version of iMovie any better? Older = less good?

First of all: iMovie ver≤6 was a totally differnet app! With a totally diff. concept, interface and usage. And, you wil see, it was a native DV-editor, and even interlaced HiDef (socalled HDV, recorded on miniDV, stored anamorphic in 1440, but on playback 'stretched' to 1920) is handled better!

iMHD6 and Standard/NTSC

Here come the pics:

(click to enlarge) What you see is: to the left a 29.97i video, each field with with a diff. color, in the middle a video showing a Siemens Star, and finally: the export 'Full Quality, after we edited both clips, add a title and a 'wave' disolve..

Result: ouput = input!

iMHD6 and HDV:

click to enlarge, .. HDV grabs ARE large ;) as you can see, there is quality loss.. the Siemens Star shows in the lower half (=export) lots of interferences.. but we dare to say, this is NOT half the resolution.. just.. a little less :)
the other grab shows on the right the orginal file, on the left the export.. hmmm.. color issues, someone?
NO!
resolution! zoom into the pic, at the borderline.. 400%

Result: iMHD6 handled HDV.. not a 100%..

iMHD6 and Gamma:

//will follow......//

Summary:

If you like to handle
'Standard' (NTSC/29.97, PAL/25) from miniDV
with as little as possible quality loss:
stay with iMHD6!

It would be charming from Apple, Inc. if they offer a 'iMovieDV' for 9.99 for all of us, using a newer Mac (which has iM08/09 preinstalled), and who like to use their miniDV based devices. Perhaps, some poor soul at Cupertino has to proceed the necessary adjustments, so 3y old iMHD6 runsin some 10.5/10.6/Quicktime_X enviroment.. but the 'basic code' is here.. it's called iMHD6.. ;)

… would be nice …
