The HBVEC was formed in March 2003 to bring together people interested in producing or being involved in quality amateur video production. It helps members learn the skills needed in researching subjects, writing scripts, using the camcorder, video editing, dealing with sound tracks and writing commentary, it also offers opportunities to work on video productions in a team or by oneself.
The Club holds monthly meetings, and from time to time guest speakers show and/or demonstrate equipment or techniques pertaining to video production.
Meetings are held at 7:30pm the second Tuesday of each month, at Lecture Room D111 at the EIT in Taradale (except December and January).
Membership is $20.00 for either a single or a couple. Potential members can attend a couple of meetings, free of obligation, to see what happens before deciding whether or not to join.
Apart from the monthly meetings, classes are held for smaller groups who wish to focus on a particular aspect of video production, for example, commentary writing or aspects of computer editing. Tied in with this is a mentoring programme where the more experienced help the less experienced.
