Marquetry art is like painting but without canvas, paints and brushes. It is made only with wood veneer, often 3D and more impressive than a painting in its

workmanship, skill and artistic excellence.

More than 300 varieties of wood veneers of different grains, and textures are used in this work of art. The veneers are hand-cut to zigzag sizes by the Master
Craftsman and embedded on a plain wooden base. When they are assembled at their
places, a vibrant and picturesque landscape or portrait emerges out of them.

Modern marquetry and inlay were inspired by the ancient art of INTARSIA – the making of decorative and pictorial mosaics by the inlaying of precious and exotic materials into a groundwork of solid wood. Originating from Persia, this rare art
migrated to India between 16th and 17th centuries and was nurtured by the Royal families. Since then, this specialized art has been handed down from generation to generation, like an exclusive family tradition.
