The Garbage Island is an island in the pacific gyre, ( to see a map of the pacific gyre visit are Maps ( which is currents that collect many things including a lot of garbage which of course the garbage island is made of.  ( mostly plastic items ) Don't hear anyone talking about the garbage island much do you? Well thats because  most people don't know about the garbage island. Well the garbage island contains many trash items that mostly contain plastic. People don't remove this floating giant mound...... well I wouldn't say mound, lets say floating garbage items stuck together and forming a floating island that is the size of texas! Thats one reason why people do not remove it. Another reason is that it is in international waters so no country wants to spend there time and money to remove it from the ocean. ( it would also be very hard to move a floating stuck together garbage mound the size of texas )  There is very small little floating things of plastic called nodules that birds eat and chocke on them wich causes them to starve to death because they eat them and its imposible for them to digest them so they feel like they are full. Also the whole food chain is affected by this garbage island because shrimp also eat these nodules and they are eaten by other animals...so on. There is six times more plastic in the ocean then there is shrimp! Heres the thing, one person can make a big difference!
