The Forum Project Presents... Work in Progress: An Evening of Theatre of the Oppressed Performance This event will showcase the work of the participants of the Forum Project's Intro to Theatre of the Oppressed course and youth from the Performing Truth series. In this Forum Theatre performance we will present several scenes of that represent issues of oppression. We will play the scenes several times and invite the audience to stop the action and try to break the oppression. The event is engaging, enlightening, and lots of fun! Come for the performance, stay for the revolution! Introduction to Theatre of the Oppressed: A Facilitators Training We
began our first long-run faciliators training on June 7 and things are
going really well! This is a 12-week program that runs through August
and provides participants with tools and skills to begin facilitating
using Theatre of the Oppressed techniques. Each week we meet for four
hours and play games and dialogue and have tons of fun while exploring
very serious issues. Performing TruthThis series was offered at a sliding-scale to not turn anyone down for their ability to pay. Check photos from the course at our Gallery. Performing Truth is a project with Youth Enrichment Services (Y.E.S.) of the New York LGBT Community Center, began on June 5 at 5:30 pm. In this ten-week program we work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer youth of the city to develop performances that reflect their true experiences of oppression. For more information about Y.E.S. call 212-620-7310. Want the Forum Project to come to your oganization or community? Let us know how we can help you!
