An artist’s life is always full of inspirations and creativeness.  I find creative inspirations among enjoyment of the out of doors, my garden in particular, and nature in general, reading and poetry, and general love for life and the animals who share our planet.  I enjoy painting and drawing landscapes and more in order to share the wonders of nature with others.

Sarah Anne Evans (or Sallie, as she is known) majored in Fine Arts, minored in English at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.  She attended evening school at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, majoring in Fine Arts, and studied at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, California.  She is a member of Arts Benicia, Benicia, California, Vallejo Artists’ Guild, in Vallejo, California, a Fellow member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans, member-at-large of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, and member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, Solano County Arts Council, and Vallejo Piecemakers.

Besides designing and creating miniature needlework kits for Strawberry Creek Designs, Sallie designs and handcrafts fine miniature needlework in 1 inch to 1 foot, ½ inch to 1 foot, and ¼ inch to 1 foot scales.  The various methods/skills in needlework include, petit pointe, rug hooking, crewel embroidery, candlewicking, quilting, and braiding miniature items.

Sallie has finally taken the leap into the fine arts, life size of course (but does paint in 1 inch to 1 foot scale), after many years spent in making a real living.  She is looking forward to many years of painting and teaching in the future in real life size as she had always intended to do.  In 2001, after many years of working, Sallie began to paint again and joined the Vallejo Artists’ Guild.

She has written a feature article on miniature needlework for Needlepoint News in the May/June 1986 issue.
