Christians Against Poverty (http://www.capuk.org) is a national debt counselling charity working through a network of centres based in local churches. CAP offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt through its unique, in-depth service. CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help. CAP’s unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty, be released from the fear, oppression, and worry generated by overwhelming debts. We are providing sustainable poverty relief as our service teaches clients vital budgeting skills that will last a lifetime.

A new Centre for CAP based at Mayfield Community Church was launched on Friday 20 November. In attendance were our MP Phil Willis, along with the Mayor, local councillors and officials were alsopresent.

Can you help? Are you aware of debt problems in their church, or elsewhere, then encourage people to contact the CAP hotline on 0800 328 0006 (calls are free). Encourage church member who work or has good contact, with an organisation where debt problems are manifest e.g. doctors surgeries, health centres, housing associations etc, to promote the fact of CAP. This is a town wide initiative for Christians across Harrogate to become involved by being a friend of CAP through prayer or befriending clients, then speak to David A monthly prayer meeting will take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month 5.45pm at Mayfield Community Church. |
