Little Benny

Little Benny Remembering His Past

Little Benny is always remembering his past. Especially, when he is tempted. He is always tempted by his enemy, Cigar, an evil spirit. He tells Benny to live a little. When Cigar tells Benny to live a little, he means only a little. He does not want little Benny to live at all. What he is really telling Little Benny is to die. Cigar tells Benny to smoke, drink, and have a ball. He tries to make Benny see that there is no danger in having a drink or two, smoking a cigar every once and a while, and so on. For a long time, it does seem okay until it all catches up with you later on in life. When you look in the mirrow, you began to look old before your time. That is death talking to you right then and there.

Old Bad Fear is another one of Little Benny's enemies. He puts fear and doubt into Benny's heart, mind, and eyes. Fear get's in the way of Little Benny's faith. He slows him down from doing the things that he could do. However, it is good to have some fear which makes Little Benny cautious.

Am I Good Enough?

Romans 3:10 Tells us that there is none righteous, no, not one. (Gal. 3:22) But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. (Matt.19:17) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (18) He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, (19) Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Little Benny had to ask himself, "Am I a sinner or am I good enough as I am?" Little Benny was led by the scripture as he read Matt.22:37, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The Eyes of Benny

Little Benny once saw through the eyes of man. His heart was filled with love deep down on the inside. Looking through the eyes of man, his love and affection sometimes got him into trouble because he loved people. With his love for people, he did not see through the eyes of God. God knew that there were things that he needed to see. Sometimes love can blind you. He tried hard to please people instead of looking at their wrong doings. Little Benny saw a lot of things, but somehow, they were not reality to him. God chose him because he knew what was in his heart and became eyes for Benny. Little Benny thought many times that he was doing something wrong even when he knew he made the right choices. Sometimes he did things that he did not know that he was doing right. God was the one guiding him all of the time. People tried to take advantage of him. He had so much love and so much heart that if someone broke his heart, that was all it took. Little Benny backed off. He was not impressed with a heart break.

Little Benny recognized the present from his past. He had enough of being mistreated, and he wanted to know people and their good. Benny wanted to go through life without judging and looking at the faults. But God often warned him that he had to be careful of people. Yet, God was the judge, and Benny never judged them. It’s hard to know who’s really on the Lord’s side when you cannot see what is inside the heart. Benny would get angry and tell God that he was through with folks. The Lord would tell Benny not to stop caring and praying for people. So Benny went on about his work for the Lord. The Lord stayed on Little Benny’s case and told him to study his word.

(St. Matt. 5:44) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (45) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and unjust.

As Little Benny could not comprehend and still kept moving on in the Lord, he began to gradually see his good future. Good things slowly began to happen for him. The eyes of Benny no longer saw through the eyes of love alone. Love for people can make you do wrong. God comes first. First, he saw as man through the eyes of man. Now, he see’s through the eyes of God and that God is love. God’s love has made his love a more perfect kind of love because God‘s love grew inside of him. Can you see through the eyes of Benny? Can you see Benny? Benny can see you through the eyes of God.

Seeing Things God's Way

Little Benny was told by God that he was inferior to someone else. It was someone he loved and cared so much for as a friend. He would often feel that person hurting. Little Benny had been talking to that person. It appeared that things got worse. “Somehow we don’t connect”, he thought. Little Benny understood some of the pain coming from that person, and thought he had the gift from God to help. The Lord would thank him for speaking to that person in his word, but the Lord told him enough was enough. He told Little Benny to keep his distance, but to continue to pray for that person. Benny felt he needed to tell that person more. That worried Little Benny. He told the Lord that he believed that the person he cared for could be saved, however he knew that God knew best. Little Benny did not know why he cared for that person so much. The Lord told him why. There was a connection. Benny asked God to make it known, but the Lord told him that it was best to let it remain unknown. When God told Benny that he had something for him, and had something for the person he loved, his worry died down a little. God made Benny remember that the person he loved was not him. He told Benny to continue to love the person he loved.

Benny understood God. He had to see things God’s way, and he let go to let God. The Lord said in (Isaiah 55:7-9) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord; and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. (9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Little Benny knew the person he cared for could be forgiven. He noticed something about his own self. Little Benny had to learn to stop seeing things his way. He appreciated God for correcting him.

Because Thou Hast Left Thy First Love

It is important to listen to God. It is important to study his word. It teaches us daily living. Benny is beginning to see what his purpose is, and what it really is that God expects from him. Benny said, "I Once Was Blind, But Now I See."

(Rev. 2:2) I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: (3) And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. (4) Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
