A key to self-sufficiency
and sustainability on Indian reservation communities
is self-employment.
At The Center Pole, youth learn the basics of entrepreneurship, long-term goals and money management.
Elders, artisans, local entrepreneurs and cultural experts join Native American youth in workshops to help them learn the principles of entrepreneurship and turn their ideas into products based on Crow Indian tradition and story.
They experience the risks, responsibility and return of creating and owning a business through a variety of projects and businesses:
Wellknown Buffalo Coffee Shop
& Native Art Center

Tourists visit our Indian-owned café in the heart of Crow country for a glimpse into the lives and traditional ways of the Crow Indian people.
Guests can enjoy fresh roasted coffee and ice cream and then browse the trading post and purchase bagged coffee, jewelry or other Crow art.
Buffalo Nickel Thrift Store
Recycled clothing and household items are sold at prices matching reservation budgets. (All proceeds support entrepreneurship training, service learning, and educational opportunities for youth.)
