Bikash Ranjan Mohanty belongs to a village called Haladibasanta in Jajpur district of Orissa, India. He did his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Zoology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 2003 and 2008 respectively. He does research on fish immunology at Central Institute of Freswater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar and enjoys every ascept of science. He wish to promote science education in Orissa and elsewhere.
Sushil Kumar Garnayak belongs to the village, Ramchandrapur in Angul district of Orissa, where he spent the first fifteen years of life. He graduated in Science from Govt. College Angul in 2001. He did his Masters of Zoology in 2003 at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Then he did B. Ed at Angul to learn skills of teaching in 2004. Now he works as a Senior Research Fellow at Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar in the fields of Basic Immunology and Molecular Biology. He loves science and wish to popularize science to inculcate scientific attitude and scientific bent of mind among people.
Pradeep Ojha was born in a village Near Konark of Puri district in Orissa. Was fascinated to some mysteries of nature and found that most of it has been studied and revealed as a subject called science. Enjoyed learning much of chemistry and some physics and maths with his students in Bhubaneswar. Currently he is working as an IT professional and remains passionate about science education especially among school students and undergraduate learners. He believes computer is the next species, and man and computer will be colonizing Mars within 2050.
Abhilipsa Das is currently working as a Junior Research Fellow at Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Bhubaneswar. She belongs to a semi-urban part of Bhadrak district of Orissa called Tihidi,. Her schooling was at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bagudi, Balasore where, according to her, she had spent the most beautiful phase of her life. She got her M.Sc and M. Phil degrees in Zoology from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. Although she have a lot of degrees in her kitty, she feel herself an infant in the field of science and research and yet to taste its real flavour. She thinks that she will be benefitted by others ideas and thoughts through this science club because she loves to love science and wants to explore it.
Subrato Ghosh belongs to Kolkata, West Bengal and now live at Bhubaneswar. Presently he works at Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar as a Senior Research Fellow in a DBT funded Project on freshwater aquaculture and rural development. After his Graduation in Industrial Fish and Fisheries from University of Calcutta in 2000 and he bagged the first rank in Masters in Applied Aquaculture from Barkatullah University, Bhopal in 2003. He also worked as a Junior Research Fellow in a WB-DST funded Project on fish disease diagnosis using immunological tools at Dept. of Fishery Pathology and Microbiology, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Science during July 2005-September2006. He is happy to extend his hands towards inculcating the essence of science into the under-literate general mass with support of his learned colleagues. He says, “I will love to educate the common people as well as myself, give and gain love and affection”.
Chiranjiv Pradhan hails from a small village of Kendrapara district of Orissa. He had his early education at village school. He graduated from Kendrapara College and did his M. Sc. in Fisheries and Aquaculture from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He started his research career at International Center of Ecological Engineering, Kalyani University, West Bengal. And then shifted to Bhubaneswar where he works now as Senior Research Fellow at Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture. His present work focuses on nutritional biochemisrty of fish. He enjoys life and has goals to achieve. And he believes that there is a lot to learn from nature.
Kausik Mondal is a Lecturer in Zoology at Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya, Tamluk, Purba Medinipur , West Bengal. He was a student of Nabadwip Dham, West Bengal, the birthplace of Sri Chaitannyo Mahaprabhu. He graduated from Kalyani University, West Bengal, where he also did his Masters. He started his research career at Kalyani University, West Bengal and CIFA, Rahara, West Bengal. His present work focuses on nutritional biochemistry of fish. He is here because he loves science.
Prasanta Kumar Choudhury was born in a remote village of Nayagarh district of the State of Orissa in 1984. After completion of his schooling there, he joined College of Basic Science and Humanities, O.U.A.T, Bhubaneswar, where he did his intermediate and graduation. Thereafter, he pursued his Masters in Microbiology from the same University and now continuing Ph.D. under Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Himanshu Sekhar Jena works on schiff base-transition metal chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. He did his Masters in Chemistry from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 2006. He wish to help the youngsters grow in science.
Nusrat J M Sanghamitra belongs to the small town of Soro in Balasore district of Orissa. She finished her Masters in Inorganic Chemistry from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 1998 and Ph. D from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2005. Then she worked as Visiting Fellow in Tata Institute of Fundamental Research till 2007 and currently working as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in Leiden University, The Netherlands. She loves and dreams science. It has been one of her long cherished wish to popularize science in Orissa so that the seed of scientific curiosity is sowed in the mind of every Oriya child. Subhranshu Sekhar Samal belongs to Cuttack, Orissa. He works as a Scientist at Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Joint initiative of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic energy, Kalpakkam and Sathyabama Deemed university , Chennai) at Chennai. He did his Masters of Physics from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 2006. He is also continuing his Ph.D. work in the field of carbon nanotube based composite system. He loves to promote science in all possible ways.
Rabindra Kumar Behera hails from a village called Mandari in the Bhadrak district of Orissa. After graduating from Bhadrak College, he did his Masters in Chemistry from Utkal University in 2004. Now pursuing Ph.D. in Bio-inorganic Chemistry at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. He thanks his friends, elders and nice teachers who have influenced his education and career in science. He believes that he will be a good teacher someday. He would not only enjoy teaching school students and but also playing with them to keep his own passion for sports (especially cricket) alive.
Ranajit Mohanty was born in a small village, Birol located in the East-Indian Province of Orissa. He graduated from Ravenshaw College and also did LLB from Utkal University; and then P.G. in Mass Communication from Sardar Patel college, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi. He is a filmmaker by interest and animator by training. He loves teaching media studies at Utkal University and Rai University and to be around the young and restless Indians. He believes in the enormous talent in the Indian youth. As outbound and extrovert while expressing he is equally shy and introvert on the other. He believes that the world of animation is lifeless without science and wish to share his views on science with others.
Sushree Shashwata is a student of B. Tech (5th semester) in Computer Science branch at Gunupur, Rayagada. She hails from Anugul district of Orissa. She is passionate about digging secrets of the mysteries of nature. She dreams of roaming on mars and going to moon for vacations. But at the same time she is concerned about saving the lovely Earth. She also wishes to promote science for the betterment of human race and its home planet.
Himansu Sekhar Biswal says that human always wanted to define the invisible line between fantasy and reality, and wanted to reflect every paradigm with his tiny knowledge. This instinct of human is called science in broader sense and research in specific way. With the ambition to fulfill his parent’s dreams and willingness to unravel the hidden truth, he came to the big horizon of science from a very small village, Rampa, most popularly known as Bari in Jajpur district of Orissa. He did his schooling at Krupasindhu Bidyabhaban, Bari (1995), 10+2 (1997), BSc. from Bhadrak College, Bhadrak (2000), MSc. from Utkal University, Vanivihar (2002) and now pursuing Ph. D at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). His research focuses at laser spectroscopy in gas phase, where some fundamental issues regarding structure, bonding and dynamics of single molecules to clusters are addressed. Though he likes to spend most of his time in research, he is also very fond of writing short oriya poems. His long-standing dream is to educate and make Oriya people aware of science, especially natural sciences.
Anoop Krishnan K belongs to Trivandrum, Kerala, India. He is now doing post-doctoral research at University of Nottingham, United Kingdom after his PhD in Chemistry. He did his Masters in Analytical Chemistry. He is eager to work for the benefit of science education and research in our country.
